avathArikai (Introduction)

After explaining that if pirAtti and perumAL decide that “unless the dhOshams and guNahAni are eliminated, we will not accept the chEthanas”, they will acquire dhOshams and guNahAni, now piLLai lOkAchAryar explains that if the chEthana thinks that they have accepted me because my dhOshams and guNahAni are gone, such chEthana will acquire dhOshams and guNahAni.

sUthram 17

iraNdum kulaindhadhu enRirukkil iththalaikku iraNdum uNdAyiRRadhAm.

Simple Explanation

If chEthana thinks that both dhOshams and guNahAni are gone, he will acquire those.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

iraNdum kulaindhadhu enRu irukkil

pirAtti and bhagavAn who did not accept me so far, have accepted now, since my dhOshams and guNahAni have eliminated! Hence our dhOshams and guNahAni are gone – chEthana thinks this way.

If one remains this way,

iththalaikku iraNdum uNdAyiRRAdhAm

Acquiring akruthya karaNam (engaging in forbidden acts) and kruthya akaraNam (not doing ordained acts). How is that?

Acquiring akruthya karaNam

For such chEthana, it is forbidden to think “pirAtti and bhagavAn who did not accept us since time immemorial, have accepted us now because our dhOshams and guNahAni are gone”. If he does that, he will acquire akruthya karaNam.

Acquiring kruthya akaraNam

For such chEthana, it is ordained to think “Our dhOshams and guNahAni are still remaining in us as said in thiruvAimozhi 3.3.4 ‘nIsanEn niRai onRum ilEn’ (I am very lowly and have no good qualities), sthOthra rathnam 62 ‘amaryAdha:’ (I don’t respect the boundaries of SAsthram), varadharAja sthavam 79 ‘budhvAchanOcha’ (Knowingly or unknowingly, engaging in countless mistakes) and SrIrangarAja sthavam uththara Sathakam 91 ‘athikrAmannAgyAm’ (violating your orders). Still, pirAtti and bhagavAn consider these dhOshams and guNahAni as our offerings and accept us! How amazing!”. If the chEthana does not think like this, he will acquire kruthya akaraNam.

Thus, in this sense, he will acquire both dhOshams and guNahAni.
