avathArikai (Introduction)

When asked “In saying this [as in previous sUthram], what is the defect in eliminating the defect [body]?” piLLai lOkAchAryar mercifully says “there is no need for a separate defect, this itself is a defect”.

dhOsha nivruththithAnE dhOshamAmiRE.

Simple Explanation

Eliminating [or desiring to eliminate] the defect [body] is a defect in itself.

That is – just as a lusty woman would remove dirt/sweat from her body and desire to enjoy with her beloved person, jIvAthmA would try to eliminate the body which is incidental for the naturally pure AthmA and would offer to bhagavAn who is his lord, by forcing him to eliminate the body. Such act of trying to eliminate one’s body is contrary to the desire of bhagavAn who likes to enjoy the AthmA with his body, just as lusty man would like to enjoy his beloved woman along with her dirt/sweat. Hence, it is in itself a defect. What is undesirable to bhagavAn is a defect.
