piLLai lOkAchAryar is elaborating what was told previously.
avan svarUpaththai anusandhiththAl avanaik kadagAgak koNdu thannai nOkkum; saukumAryaththai anusandhiththAl thannaik kadagAgak koNdu avanai nOkkum.
If one thinks about bhagavAn’s true nature, one will consider him to be the protector and be protected by him; if one thinks about his tender nature, one will consider self to be the protector and protect him.
avan svarUpaththai …
That is – when one thinks about bhagavAn’s true nature as said in the first letter (of praNavam), as sarvagya (omniscient), sarvaSaktha (omnipotent) and sarvarakshaka (protector of all), considering him to be the one who eliminates the unfavourable aspects for the self, the self who is agya (ignorant), aSaktha (incapable) and aprAptha (one who is not apt to protect the self), will get protected by him; when one thinks about bhagavAn’s tender nature which will make one fear (about bhagavAn getting affected in this world by dangers), one will forget his omnipotence etc, consider him to be helpless and protect him by performing mangaLASAsanam, considering oneself to be the protector. Though, saundharyam (beauty) is not highlighted here, since his beauty is also a cause for our performing mangaLASAsanam to him, saukumAryam implies saundharyam also.
