avathArikai (Introduction)

Thus, sarvESvaran, being intent on liberating samsAri chEthanas (bound souls), gave them body and senses, etc and observed if there is a way where he can see some good deeds in them as per SAsthram which is his commandments and accept them; in not getting such opportunity, to avoid the occurrence of sarva mukthi prasangam (the question of “Why everyone is not liberated?”), vaishamya (partiality towards selected persons in liberating them) and nairgruNya (cruelty of letting bound souls suffer), he arranged agyAtha sukruthams (good deeds done unknowingly) and made them multiply in manifolds in each birth of the individuals; after explaining these aspects elaborately, piLLai lOkAchAryar revealed how agyAtha sukrutham is seen as the reason for his acceptance; subsequently, he is saying “though those who don’t understand the greatness of emperumAn’s nirhEthuka vishayIkAram (causeless acceptance), accept it, they do not become astonished on thinking about the same”.

sUthram 383

agyarAna manushyargaL, *vALA thandhAn enRiruppargaL.

* Also recited as “vALAr thandhAr”

Simple Explanation

Ignorant men will think “He did this without any reason/purpose”.

vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

agyarAna manushyargaL …

agyar

Those who don’t understand the greatness of nirhEthuka vishayIkAram.

vALA thandhAn enRiruppargaL

While one should become very involved in sarvESvaran, thinking “How great of him to help us in this way!” instead of doing that, they will think “He did this without any reason/purpose” and remain indifferent.
